Bliss House, Auroville :
Bliss House, completed in 2005, is a contemporary residence inspired by the architectural traditions of Kerala. The client, Manoj, envisioned a home that reflects the essence of traditional Kerala temple architecture while adapting it to modern living. The design incorporates key regional elements such as sloping tiled roofs, deep overhangs, and shaded transitional spaces, ensuring climatic responsiveness and passive thermal comfort. The material palette—exposed brick, granite, and timber—reinforces a sense of authenticity and permanence, while maintaining a clean, understated aesthetic.
Techniques: Composite structural system with exposed brick masonry, granite lintels, and Reinforced Brick Concrete (RBC) flat roofs. Sloping roofs are constructed using precast concrete rafters, wooden purlins, and Mangalore tiles, enabling efficient drainage and thermal performance.
