Graduated as an architect from the TVB School of Habitat Studies, New Delhi in 2003, Meera began her career with a multinational Dutch firm CSO Pvt. Ltd. in Gurgaon. In 2004, she moved to Auroville, where the spirit of perfection and refinement deeply influenced her practice and life.

 

​Over the past two decades, Meera has contributed to diverse projects in architecture, landscaping, interiors, product development, design and research - both within and beyond Auroville. Her work spans:

• Auroville Earth Institute, where material research found unique expression.

• INTACH Pondicherry, restoring heritage buildings in Pondicherry and Tanquebar.

• Matrimandir Auroville- Architectural Archiving, deepening sensitivity to the sincerity and collective effort behind the making of  Matrimandir.

• Town Planning of Auroville, engaging in city planning challenges and collaborative works with B.V. Doshi’s office, while gaining insights from Roger Anger’s creative studio.

• Terminal 3, New Delhi International Airport, contributing to landscaping in a landmark project that reshaped her ecological perspective.

• Matrimandir Twelve Gardens, an intense exploration of integral yoga through design, where the gardens themselves became teachers of deeper significance.

Her explorations are guided by a commitment to holistic sustainability - emphasizing harmony between built forms and nature, the true potential of materials and techniques, functionality, cost-effectiveness, and cultural continuity in tropical architecture.

In 2012, she founded Earthweavers, a design practice that integrates architecture, landscaping, interiors, furniture, and product design with material and structural research.  For Earthweavers, design is a weaving of modalities - bringing forth solutions that are practical, sustainable, and beautiful. The practice values traditional techniques and forms, reinterpreting them in contemporary contexts to create spaces of simplicity and resonance.
