Marc came to Auroville in 2002 and has since been immersed in diverse creative and research fields - ranging from explorations in alternate economy, local archaeology, landscape design and paintings, to translation and music. In 2004 he was invited by Roger Anger, chief Architect of Auroville, to work on the Matrimandir 12 gardens design.                                              

His journey reflects a deep connection with nature and a commitment to integrating art, spirituality, and life.

Over the past two decades, Marc has contributed to diverse projects in Auroville.               

  His work spans:

• Matrimandir Gardens – He has been the lead landscape designer for the conception and execution of the twelve main gardens of Matrimandir. His designs were shared with the Auroville community through interactive presentations and exhibitions. The completed Matrimandir gardens include Existence, Consciousness, Bliss, Light, Wealth, Utility, Progress. Youth, Harmony, and Perfection gardens are in the process.

• Research & Writings – Authored several research papers on the deeper significance and symbols of the Matrimandir gardens, as given by The Mother and Sri Aurobindo.

•  Painting – Marc started painting at the early age of seven. Later he created a series of oil paintings inspired by Sri Aurobindo’s epic poem Savitri, published as a book by Savitri Foundation, New Delhi, under the title Dream for Coming Things: Some Paintings on Savitri available through Amazon.in and Savitri Foundation. He is currently working on a series of 60 oil paintings on the Himalayas.

• Translation – In collaboration, he completed the French translation of Sri Aurobindo’s Record of Yoga in four volumes, plus glossary, available in SABDA, Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry, and Discovery Publishers, Ireland. His upcoming works include a complete French translation of Sri Aurobindo’s Epic Poem Savitri.

• Music & Alternate Economy – He was engaged in research on alternate economic models within Auroville. He later spent five year studying Indian classical instrumental music through sitar playing.

 

Marc’s creative motto is inspired by Sri Aurobindo’s words: “Ambulando solvitour”- the path unfolds by walking. Quiet and contemplative, he brings depth and life to every endeavour, weaving together art, spirituality, and nature in his practice.
